In this type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger, the heating surface consists of tubes bent in a U-shape, which are firmly installed in the tube plate on one side only.

The tube bundle in this design is drawable and individually replaceable as a spare part, while the shell can be reused. Also for cleaning purposes, the bundle can be pulled.
